Doctors at GMC Handwara save patient from eye, brain compression
Handwara, Sep 25: Doctors at the Department of ENT, GMC Handwara, have successfully treated a rare and challenging case of a large frontoethmoidal mucocele that had eroded the skull base and extended to compress the eye and brain.
The condition was managed through an advanced endoscopic Draf III procedure, a highly technical surgery performed in close proximity to the skull base and orbit, where even the slightest error can result in serious complications.
The achievement underscores GMC Handwara’s capability to perform complex, minimally invasive surgeries at par with advanced medical centers. The Department expressed gratitude to the anesthesia team and the dedicated OT staff for their crucial role in ensuring the success of the procedure.
