Srinagar, Feb 4: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar conducted an awareness programme under the guidance of  Haq Nawaz Zargar, Chairman DLSA, Srinagar and overall supervision of Secretary DLSA, Srinagar on the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 in tribal areas of Dara, Faqir Gujri Srinagar.

The programme was organised through Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) and members of the Samvaad Committee with the aim of educating tribal communities about their legal rights and protections available under the Act, as per a press release.

During the programme, the resource person highlighted the key provisions of the Act, emphasizing the safeguards provided to members of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes against atrocities, discrimination, and exploitation. The participants were informed about the legal remedies available, the procedure for lodging complaints, and the role of legal aid institutions in ensuring justice to victims.
