DLSA Sgr organises awareness programme on drug abuse, Right to Education, Prevention of Child Exploitation
Srinagar, Sep 20: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar, in collaboration with the School Education Department, conducted an awareness programme on ‘Right to Education and Prevention of Child Exploitation and Drug Abuse’ at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Shalimar, Srinagar.
The programme, organised under the chairmanship of Tasleem Arief, Chairman DLSA (Principal District and Sessions Judge) Srinagar, and under the supervision of Sajad Ur Rehman, Sub-Judge and Secretary, DLSA Srinagar, was attended by students, teaching staff, and PLVs of DLSA Srinagar.
Panel lawyer DLSA Srinagar raised awareness among the students about the legal protection available to minors and the harmful impact of substance abuse. She said that drug abuse is a great challenge for society to tackle, as it has engulfed the whole generation. It is thus the need of the hour to have a strict watch on the children, so that they will not indulge in this menace, she added.
Panel lawyer also sensitised the students about the Right to Education in India, guaranteed by Article 21A of the Constitution and the Right to Education Act (RTE) 2009, which ensures free and compulsory education for children aged 6-14. Furthermore, she also made the audience aware of the prevention of child exploitation.
