Ramban, Oct 13: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) , Ramban celebrated International girl child day by organising awareness programmes in collaboration with 'District Social Welfare Department, Ramban', Juvenile Justice Board Ramban' and Government Girls High School, Ramban'.

The venues of the programs were Government High School Ramban and Government Middle School Ramban.

The programme was held under the guidance of worthy chairman, District Legal Services Authority (Principal District and Sessions Judge) Ramban, Deepak Sethi. Secretary (Sub judge) District Legal Services Authority, Ramban Priyanka Mahajan was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The said awareness program was attended by staff of District Judiciary and DLSA Ramban.

Other Officers and staff of District Social Welfare Office Ramban and Juvenile Justice Board Ramban were also present alongwith Para Legal Volunteers of DLSA Ramban and staff and students of Govt. Girls High School Ramban.

In her address, Secretary, DLSA highlighted the importance and role of girl child in society and also mentioned challenges that girls and women face in day to day life. She emphasised the empowerment of women for the betterment of women and society as a whole. She encouraged the female students to study hard and work for their goals wholeheartedly.

Peer Tanveer, panel lawyer of DLSA Ramban addressed the participants and made them aware about various free legal services and schemes that are available for all girls and women such as Sukanya Samriddhi Yojna for young girls.

She urged all the present women and girls to be aware and take advantage of all the schemes available to them.

. Lalita Thakur, Headmistress, Government Girls High School Ramban in her address highlighted the importance of education, women safety and legal awareness among women. She also impressed upon the efforts and role of the District Legal Services Authority in providing free legal aid and services and organizing various awareness programs to make women, young girls and the general public aware of all the schemes and policies of the State and Central Government.

Other guests also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the role women play in society.

They also encouraged the young girls present in the program to pursue their dreams and understand the importance of self dependence so that status of alI women, without any discrimination could be enhanced in the society.
