DKG Terror Attack | Army Chief visits Poonch sector; reviews security situation
Rajouri, Dec 25: Amid prevailing security scenario in the backdrop of recent terrorist attack in Dehra Ki Gali (DKG) forests, the Chief of Army Staff (CoAS), General Manoj Pande Monday visited Poonch sector to get an update on the situation on the ground. During his interaction with the field commanders in a high-level security meeting, he exhorted them to “remain resolute and steadfast against all challenges.”
He also asked them to “carry out operations in the most professional manner.”
The visit came at a time when the security situation in Rajouri, Poonch districts had emerged as a matter of concern after December 21 terror attack on army vehicles in which four army personnel lost their
lives while three others were injured and under treatment in the army hospital.
Three civilians from Topa Peer village near the attack site also died under mysterious conditions and they were among those civilians who were detained by the army for questioning after the deadly attack.
On Monday, the Chief of Army Staff, General Manoj Pande visited the Dehra Ki Gali (DKG) area of Poonch sector where the attack took place. He visited the Dehra Ki Gali army base and examined the nearby attack site in DKG forests and also took stock of anti-terror operations underway.
General Pande was briefed about the operational aspects by local field commanders and other senior officers.
Security forces are carrying out a joint operation in the area and intense searches are going on to nab terrorists involved in the attack.
“General Manoj Pande # COAS, visited #Poonch sector and was given an update on the prevalent security situation. #COAS interacted with Commanders on ground, exhorted them to conduct the operations in the most professional manner and remain resolute and steadfast against all challenges,” army said, in its official statement, posted on ‘X’.
General Pande was accompanied by GoC-in-C Northern Command, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi; GoC White Knight Corps Lt Gen Sandeep Jain.
The Army Chief also chaired a high-level security review meeting at Ace of Spades Division headquarter in Rajouri in which local army commanders, Commanding Officers of all field formations, units were present, official sources said.
He met and interacted with the Commanding Officers of Battalions deployed in Rajouri, Poonch districts during his visit in Rajouri.
