Srinagar, Nov 1: Candles and diya lighting marked the Diwali celebrations at the newly constructed Sharda Yatra Temple at LoC Teetwal in Kashmir.

A large number of Kashmiri Pandits, locals, and army jawans participated, lighting oil lamps and candles to celebrate Diwali and distributing sweets.

Led by Construction Committee member Ajaz Khan, the event was as “historic as Diwali in Ayodhya.”

In a statement, Ravinder Pandita conveyed Diwali greetings to all Sharda followers across the globe.

The Save Sharda Committee has taken the lead in the reconstruction of the temple and Sikh Gurudwara after reclaiming them last year.

Prior to the tribal raids in 1947, a dharmshala and a Sikh Gurdwara existed on the same site, both of which were burned down in the raids. In a similar effort, the committee is reconstructing the Sharda Temple and Sikh Gurudwara, the construction of which is nearly complete.
