Div Com Kashmir inspects Amarnath Yatra transit camp

Srinagar, July 12: To ensure the smooth facilitation of the yatris, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri Friday conducted a surprise visit to the yatra transit camp at Pantha Chowk.

He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, Commissioner SMC Owais Ahmad and other officers from R&B, Jal Shakti, and took firsthand stock of arrangements put in place for the smooth facilitation of the yatris.

During the visit, the divisional commissioner inspected the physical status of various facilities at the site including electricity, drinking water, sanitation, and parking space besides medical facilities.

He also took stock of the functioning of the langars (community kitchens) established at the camp.

Bidhuri interacted with the langar functionaries.

Earlier, the DC inspected the temporary accommodation sheds, public convenience facilities, first aid, health camps, and water management.

The divisional commissioner asked the departments to keep provisions for extra arrangements at the camp to tackle any exigent situation so that the yatris do not face any difficulty.

He was informed that all necessary arrangements for drinking water and electricity facilities had been made well in advance at the halt camp.

With regard to sanitation and cleanliness facilities, the officers of SMC were directed to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness in the transit camp on a regular basis, besides deployment of sufficient staff at the camp for periodical cleanliness in and around the transit camp.

The divisional commissioner assured the yatris of all possible facilities at the transit camp for their smooth and pleasant stay.
