District Kathua Taekwondo Championship 2025 concludes
Kathua, Dec 27: The District Kathua Taekwondo Championship 2025 concluded on Saturday with a grand closing and medal presentation ceremony, marking a memorable end to the district-level championship. The event witnessed vibrant participation and strong encouragement from the sporting community of District Kathua.
The ceremony, as per an official statement, was graced by MLA Dr Bharat Bhushan as the Chief Guest, who distributed prizes among the winners and participants.
Around 150 players drawn from schools and clubs from across District Kathua participated, showcasing commendable skill, discipline and competitive spirit.
The event served as an important platform to promote taekwondo at the grassroots level and to identify emerging talent.
The J&K Sports Council under the Department of Youth Services and Sports has been providing improved sports infrastructure, modern training facilities, qualified coaching support and regular competitive exposure to athletes. Training programmes and district-level competitions are being organized across all districts of Jammu & Kashmir, ensuring equal opportunities for athletes to train, compete and progress to higher levels.
The medalists of the championship would represent District Kathua in the upcoming 28th J&K UT Taekwondo Championships 2025, making the event a key selection platform for district-level talent.
While addressing the gathering, MLA Dr. Bharat Bhushan congratulated all the participants and lauded the performance of the athletes and emphasized the importance of sports in shaping disciplined, confident and healthy youth. He further stated that the youth of Kathua must participate in sports and show their capabilities at the National stage.
Congratulating the athletes, Nuzhat Gul, Secretary, J&K Sports Council, said, “I congratulate all the medal winners and participants for their impressive performances."
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of medals and certificates to winners and participants, reinforcing the message of sportsmanship, dedication and the growing popularity of taekwondo in District Kathua.
