Budgam, Dec 13: The District Administration Budgam continued its intensified drive against illegal brick kilns, demolishing three unauthorised units in the villages of Behrampora and Kultreh in Chadoora tehsil.

The action was carried out under the overall supervision of the Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Dr Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, as part of the administration’s zero-tolerance policy towards environmental violations and illegal land use.

Officials said the demolished kilns were operating without mandatory permissions and in violation of environmental norms. The units were found to be causing serious air pollution, posing health risks to nearby residents and inflicting irreversible damage on fertile agricultural land.

The district administration reiterated that no illegal brick kiln would be allowed to function at the cost of public health, environmental safety and agricultural sustainability. All owners running brick kilns without proper authorisation have been directed to dismantle such structures voluntarily, failing which strict legal and coercive action will be initiated in accordance with the law.
