Disability not Inability: 17 Abhinandan Home students script success in class 10th, 12th exams
Srinagar, Jan 15: Seventeen Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) of Abhinandan Home, Rambagh, Srinagar, passed the class 10th and 12th examinations, the results of which were declared on Wednesday.
The students who have either hearing and speech disabilities or face other multiple learning challenges not only passed the examination but did so with commendable scores, turning their success into a beacon of hope for hundreds of other PwD across Jammu and Kashmir.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, Principal of Abhinandan Home, Rambagh, Mudasir Ahmad said seven students from class 12th passed the JKBOSE exam with distinction while the performance of class 10th students was also great.
“Seven students from class 12th appeared in the exams, and all of them passed. They have all obtained above 400 marks,” Ahmad said.
He lauded the students for their hard work and efforts despite their disabilities.
“Our teachers also worked hard and motivated the students to perform better in the exams,” Ahmad said.
He said that the teachers adopted innovative methods to prepare the students for the exams.
The class 10th students who passed the exams are Hashmat Ullah, who has a hearing and speech disability, scored 420 marks; Asra Zehra scored 400, Owais 388, Asiya 380, Rutba 379, Tajamul 366, Areba 356, Shaista 354, Salman 341, and Umar Fayaz scored 310 marks.
The seven students who passed the class 12th exams are Tanzeela, who scored 454 marks, Abid 453, Seerat 450, Muhammad Umaq 438, Muskan 419, Burhan 418, and Towheeda scored 415 marks.
“All seven students of class 12th have hearing and speech disabilities,” Mudasir said.
