Srinagar, Feb 16: Director Tourism Kashmir, Syed Qamar Sajad, conducted a surprise visit to the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) Nowgam to review facilities for general tourists and pilgrims expected to arrive for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.

He was accompanied by Joint Director Tourism Kashmir Waseem Raja and Assistant Director Tourism Nisar Ahmed during the on-site inspection.

The Director undertook a detailed tour of the Tourism Estate-cum-Facilitation Centre and assessed the arrangements in place for tourists and yatris arriving in Srinagar by train.

During the visit, he issued on-the-spot directions to concerned officers to ensure that all necessary facilities and conveniences are made available to incoming tourists and pilgrims at the earliest.

Special instructions were given for the immediate establishment of an Information-cum-Facilitation Counter at the entrance of TRC Nowgam. The counter will cater specifically to tourists and pilgrims of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, providing them with proper guidance and information about various tourism-related services and facilities available across the Valley.

The Director also directed the Recreation Wing of the department to ensure proper maintenance of the Climbing Wall at the TRC premises. He further instructed officials to organise youth tournaments in the coming days and make such activities a regular feature to encourage greater participation.

The visit was aimed at ensuring preparedness and seamless facilitation for the anticipated increase in tourist and pilgrim footfall during the forthcoming yatra season.
