Srinagar, Aug 30: In a significant boost to healthcare infrastructure, Director SKIMS, Prof Muhammad Ashraf Ganie on Friday commissioned 20 state-of-the-art integrated anesthesia workstations worth Rs 10.5 crore in the Department of Anesthesia at SKIMS.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by Heads of Departments (HoDs) from various specialties, including Dr Showkat Ahmad Gurcoo, HOD Anaesthesiology, Dr Muhammad Akbar Shah, HOD Critical Care Medicine, Dr Muheebul Haq, HOD Bioengineering and Radiophysics, along with other faculty members.

Prof Ganie highlighted the administration's unwavering commitment to providing the best facilities to patients at the Institute.

He emphasised that the goal is to equip every department at SKIMS with the necessary resources to deliver efficient and high-quality services.

“Today’s commissioning of these advanced workstations marks a significant step forward in enhancing patient care at SKIMS. These new additions will undoubtedly contribute to elevating the standard of care provided at our institute,” he said.

The Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care at SKIMS is one of the largest in the Institute, with a robust team comprising 13 Consultants, 13 Senior Residents, 25 Post Graduate Students (MD), 3 Junior Residents, and other supporting staff. The department plays a crucial role in offering specialized tertiary care to patients from various regions of the Union Territory.

This latest investment in cutting-edge equipment underscores SKIMS’s ongoing efforts to remain at the forefront of medical care and to continually improve the healthcare services available to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
