Director Sericulture J&K chairs comprehensive review meeting
Jammu, Nov 7: Director Sericulture J&K, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat on Friday chaired a comprehensive review meeting with the officers of the Sericulture Department at Jammu to assess the progress achieved under various UT Capex and Centrally Sponsored Schemes and to deliberate on measures for accelerating the booking of expenditure during the current financial year.
During the meeting, the Director emphasised the importance of timely and result-oriented implementation of departmental programmes and projects. He urged the officers to expedite the execution of all ongoing works and to adopt innovative and scientific approaches for sustainable development of the Sericulture sector in the region, said a press release.
Bhat highlighted that Sericulture holds immense potential to uplift the rural economy and generate substantial employment opportunities, particularly among women and marginal farmers. He directed the officers to ensure effective utilization of funds, close monitoring of progress and swift action on all pending issues so as to achieve tangible outcomes within set timelines.
All officers of the Jammu Division attended the meeting and presented detailed scheme-wise progress reports, covering both physical and financial achievements. The Director appreciated the efforts of the field functionaries and called for greater coordination and commitment at all levels to ensure that benefits of various schemes reach the grassroots level beneficiaries.
Bhat further stressed on the need to enhance cocoon productivity and quality, and to take proactive steps to increase farmers income through the promotion of innovative sericulture practices, improved silkworm seed production and better awareness among farmers about modern techniques to safeguard crops from losses caused by climatic or biological factors.
The review meeting concluded with a renewed commitment by all officers to work diligently towards realizing the Department’s goal of transforming Sericulture into a more vibrant, profitable, and farmer-centric sector in Jammu & Kashmir.
