Srinagar, July 19: Director of Sericulture Jammu & Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat visited key sericulture facilities in Srinagar today, marking a pivotal moment in the region's development of the silk industry.

The tour included stops at the District Sericulture Office, Central Division Srinagar, Mulberry Nurseries, Cocoon Warehouse, and Cocoon Auction Market at Alochi Bagh, all of which are undergoing major upgrades.

During his visit, Director Bhat emphasised the critical need for a robust work culture within the department. He rallied officers to adopt a mission-mode approach, setting time-bound targets for developmental goals. The Director stressed the importance of collaborative efforts among all stakeholders to expand the sericulture sector in the region significantly.

Bhat expressed satisfaction with the ongoing infrastructure improvements funded by NABARD, urging for an accelerated pace to enhance the department's technical operations. He also highlighted the importance of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the facilities, crucial for the delicate nature of sericulture work.
