Director Sericulture asks officers to work on a mission mode to achieve targets

Srinagar, Jan 30: Director Sericulture J&K, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat visited the Basic Seed Station in Mirgund to oversee and evaluate the ongoing developmental works and overall functioning.

The visit included inspections of various Mulberry Nurseries/Farms, Silkworm Seed Units, and the Office of Manager Seed, Sericulture Dev. Department.

Addressing the officers of J&K Sericulture Development Department, Director Sericulture emphasised the need to work on a mission mode to achieve developmental targets. He urged the officers to gear up for an extensive mulberry plantation drive to ensure readily available leaf reserves for silkworm rearers in the upcoming rearing season. The Director stressed the importance of quality silkworm seed production.

During the visit,  Bhat reviewed the progress of the Seed Unit's up-gradation at Basic Seed Station Mirgund. He expressed satisfaction that sufficient funds were allocated by the Government to complete all developmental projects, bringing the department under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).

The Director emphasised enhancing surveillance of the boundary walls of Mulberry Nurseries, Farms, Units, and various offices of the Seed Stations to prevent trespassing or damage to departmental assets. He urged the officers to take immediate measures against any encroachment and maintain hygiene and cleanliness in the workplace.

Director had a detailed interaction with the employees, urging them to work with dedication for the production of quality Silkworm Seed. He stressed the need to increase the Seed production capacity for achieving self-sufficiency in silkworm seed production and ensuring an abundant mulberry foliage supply in the U.T. of J&K.

The Development Officer, ISDP, Sonawari, District Sericulture Officer, Baramulla, and other officers were present during the visit. The Director's inspection aimed to ensure the efficient functioning of the Basic Seed Station Mirgund and enhance the overall productivity of the sericulture sector in the region.
