Jammu, Mar 2: A meeting to deliberate upon the “Seva Sankalp Resolution” adopted by the Union Cabinet recently, was held on Monday, at the Directorate of Census Operations, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. The meeting was chaired by Amit Sharma, IAS, Director MHA, Census Operations, J&K and Ladakh, along with Arun Kumar, Joint Director and Manmeet Singh Loomba, Deputy Director and all other Assistant Directors and officers present alongside, both physically and through virtual mode.

At the outset, DCO Amit Sharma, as per a statement issued, directed the team to read out the Office Memorandum issued by the Cabinet Secretariat and the enclosed Seva Sankalp Resolution and a threadbare brain-storming session was held to deliberate upon the vision of Union Cabinet of making our Bharat Viksit by 2047 and figure amongst top three global leaders.

Amit emphasized that the Resolution reflects a renewed commitment towards public-centric governance rooted in constitutional values, transparency, accountability and service to citizens and the upcoming Census 2027 shall be a true reflection of same, being the first-ever paperless census which is to be conducted in a digital manner and shall help best in reaching out to the last citizen of the nation to be covered through it.

Highlighting the national vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047”, Amit Sharma stated that the Directorate of Census Operations has a crucial role in strengthening evidence-based governance through clean, transparent and accurate data collection. He underscored that Census 2027, being the first fully digital and paperless Census, will serve as a foundational pillar for policy planning and proper decision-making across sectors.

Director Amit Sharma further observed that Census 2027 holds the key to reaching the last citizen of the nation and ensuring inclusive development. He stressed that initiatives such as “Census as a Service (CaaS)” and digital enumeration align with the broader governance reforms aimed at efficient, transparent and citizen-centric administration.

Officers present in the meeting reiterated their collective commitment to contribute towards the national objective of making India a developed nation and among the top three global economies by 2047.

The meeting concluded with a resolve to implement the spirit of the Seva Sankalp Resolution in letter and spirit with the assurance to Director Census Amit Sharma that all officers and officials of Directorate, based out of Jammu, Srinagar and Leh offices, shall keep working relentlessly towards realisation of the vision of Union Cabinet as per the decided timelines.
