Dilapidated road irks Mirabad residents
Srinagar, Oct 20: Residents of Mirabad lane 3 of Batamaloo locality here have expressed resentment against the failure of authorities to undertake repairs and macadamisation of the dilapidated road there.
A delegation of aggrieved residents said the road was dug up over seven years ago for the construction of a drainage system. They said even after the construction of the drainage system, the road hasn’t been repaired or macadamised.
“Our normal lives have been affected due to dilapidated road,” rued Riyaz Ahmad Dar, a local. He said during rains, the road turns muddy making it difficult for inhabitants to venture out. “Dust emanating from the dilapidated road is taking a toll on the health of inhabitants. While roads in adjoining colonies have been macadamised. Only our area has been left out. This is discrimination against us. We have been apprising concerned authorities about the matter but no action has been taken. The condition of our road is such that it seems there is a village in the Smart City,” Dar added.
“We make a fervent appeal to Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and Deputy Commissioner Srinagar to look into the matter,” they added.
