Digitisation of Jamabandi for Balhama, Lasjan in final stage: CM
Jammu, Mar 18: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday informed the House that the digitisation of Jamabandi for Balhama and Lasjan had been completed.
Responding to a question by legislator Ahsan Ahmad Pardesi, the Chief Minister said the process was currently in the authentication stage.
“The digitisation of Jamabandi for Lasjan has been completed, and any errors found are being rectified on a case-by-case basis,” he said.
Pardesi, however, sought a specific time frame for the completion of the entire process.
The Chief Minister assured the House that the process would be completed as soon as possible but cautioned against rushing it, warning that errors could occur if done hastily.
Pertinently, Jamabandi, also known as the Record of Rights (ROR), is a crucial legal document maintained for every revenue estate in land administration. It serves as an official record that details the ownership, possession, and cultivation status of land, along with other rights and liabilities associated with it. The document is periodically updated to reflect the latest changes in land transactions, inheritance, or any legal alterations. Jamabandi is used by landowners, farmers, and government authorities to verify land titles, resolve disputes, and ensure transparency in land records. It is an essential tool for maintaining accurate land records and plays a vital role in land revenue administration and rural development.
