DIG Traffic Jammu Haseeb Mughal awarded President's Police Medal on Republic Day 2026
Srinagar, Jan 25: Dr. Mohd Haseeb Mughal, IPS (2009), presently serving as Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Traffic, Jammu Zone, has been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service on the occasion of Republic Day, 2026, in recognition of his exemplary and sustained contribution to policing.
A resident of Bhaderwah in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr. Mughal has an outstanding academic record. He is a B.Sc. (Hons) and M.Sc. Gold Medallist from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh, and holds a Ph.D. from Jamia Hamdard University, New Delhi.
Over the years, Dr. Mughal has held several key operational and leadership positions across the Union Territory. He has served as DySP Operations Cargo, Srinagar, and SDPO Kothibagh, Srinagar, besides heading five districts as District SP/SSP, including Handwara, Kishtwar, Baramulla, Rajouri and Srinagar.
Notably, he served as SSP Srinagar during the most critical period following the abrogation of Article 370 (2019–2021), playing a significant role in maintaining law and order amid unprecedented security challenges. He has also served as SSP Vigilance Jammu, CID Kashmir, and Traffic National Highway Wing. More recently, he served as DIG Rajouri–Poonch Range (2022–2024) before assuming charge as DIG Traffic, Jammu Zone, where he is currently posted.
Dr. Mughal’s distinguished service record is further reflected in the numerous honours he has received over the years. These include the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service, three Police Medals for Gallantry, the J&K Police Medal for Meritorious Service, and the J&K Police Medal for Gallantry.
In addition, he has been awarded Commendation Discs by the Army Commander, Director General of Police J&K, Vice Chief of Naval Staff, and Director General CRPF for his outstanding professional conduct and dedication to duty.
