DIG Sarah Rizvi to probe charges against DySP

Jammu, Dec 12: J&K Home department Tuesday appointed DIG, IR Jammu Sarah Rizvi, DIG, IR Jammu as Inquiry officer to enquire into the charges framed against Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Varinder Singh, presently under suspension.

Suhaib Ashraf, Chief Prosecuting Officer, PHQ, will be the Presenting Officer in the case.

Rizvi has been asked to complete the enquiry and submit a report to the Home Department within a period of thirty days.

An inquiry under Rule 33 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956, is being held against Singh.

Senior IPS officer Vikramjit Singh, who was the Inspector General of Police, Traffic J&K, was appointed as Inquiry officer vide Government Order No 219-Home of 2023 dated April 29, 2023. He (Vikramjit) was subsequently transferred and posted as Commissioner Secretary to the Government, Industries and Commerce Department, vide Government Order No. 624-JK(GAD) of 2023 dated May 26, 2023, issued under endorsement No GAD- SERVOKAS/171/2022 dated May 26, 2023.

“It was, therefore, deemed necessary to appoint another officer as Inquiry Officer to inquire into the charges against Varinder Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police. Now, therefore, in supersession of the Government Order No: 219- 12 Home of 2023 dated April 29, 2023 and in terms of Rule 33 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956, Sarah Rizvi, DIG, IR Jammu is hereby appointed as Inquiry Officer to inquire into the charges framed against Deputy Superintendent of Police, under suspension,” read an order issued by Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary) Home Raj Kumar Goyal.
