Ramban, Sep 17: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Doda-Kishtwar Range (DKR) Shridhar Patil on Wednesday visited Police Station Banihal and felicitated the Special Investigation Team (SIT) for swiftly solving a recent triple murder case, officials said.

As per the Police, the case had caused concern among residents of the area but was cracked swiftly after the SIT’s investigation.

The DIGP praised the team for their timely identification and arrest of the accused involved in what he termed a “barbaric crime”.

Addressing the officers and personnel, DIGP Patil commended their dedication and urged them to continue discharging their duties with integrity and zeal, emphasising the importance of public trust and the role of law enforcement in maintaining peace and security.

The visit also witnessed a heartening response from the local community, with several residents voluntarily visiting the police station to thank the J&K Police for their swift action and commitment to justice.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban, Arun Gupta, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Banihal, Manjeet Singh, were present on the occasion and joined the DIGP in congratulating the SIT for their successful efforts.

The case was registered after the bodies of a woman and two minors were recovered last week from a culvert along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway in the Chambalwas area of Banihal.

Police had said the deaths appeared to be homicide, and forensic teams collected samples from the scene.
