Didn’t cross my boundaries: LG Sinha

Srinagar, Apr 4: Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha today said that he is operating within his domain and did not cross boundaries, set by the J&K Reorganisation Act of 2019.

He stated this at a media event in New Delhi.  LG Sinha said, “Parliament passed the J&K reorganisation bill in 2019. I want to make it clear and I say this with full responsibility that I have not done anything which violates that Reorganisation Act. I am functioning within my domain. And I will not do anything outside my domain. I know my boundaries and I will not cross these boundaries."

His statement came after his administration transferred 48 JKAS officers on April 1. Unhappy over the transfers the ruling National Conference (NC) and its allies including Congress held a joint meeting of their legislators and passed a resolution demanding that the mandate of the people should be respected. However, opposition parties including PDP criticised the NC and its allies for convening the meeting and passing a resolution “on a minor issue like  transfer of officers while completely ignoring the more important issues for which they got votes, majority and finally formed the government.”

BJP defended the transfers saying since the law and order is with LG, he can transfer the deputy commissioners, and additional deputy commissioners, who are magistrates.
