Dharmarth Trust renovates, restores ancient temple in Pahalgam

Pahalgam, July 28: J&K Dharmarth Trust has successfully renovated and restored a Shiv Temple in Pahalgam, to its original glory.

According to a press release, the temple was built by Dr Karan Singh Chairman Trustee, in 1962.

“This historic event was marked by the installation of a specially crafted Shiv Parivar idol, ordered and manufactured in Rajasthan by the Raj Pariwar of Jammu and Kashmir. It was an honour for Dharmarth Trust to welcome Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, and his wife Manu Bhatnagar at the ancient Shiv Temple, “ the press release said.

It added that on the occasion, Vikramaditya Singh, Trustee of J&K Dharmarth Trust, and Yuvrani Chitrangada Singh along with Advisor Bhatnagar and his wife Manu Bhatnagar performed Pooja together following the Murti Installation ceremony of Shiv Parivar and took blessings from Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati.

Yuvrani Chitrangada Singh, along with Vikramaditya Singh, personally offered gold ornaments to Maa Parvati in the presence of Advisor Bhatnagar and his wife, symbolizing the deep respect and reverence held for the deities.

Following the installation, Vikramaditya Singh, Advisor Bhatnagar, and his wife actively participated in a sacred hawan ceremony, offering Puran Aahutis (oblations) to invoke divine blessings and ensure the successful consecration of the temple. Advisor Bhatnagar also appreciated the efforts of the Dharmarth Trust in preserving the cultural heritage and enhancing the facilities for devotees. He acknowledged the significance of the renovation and commended the Trust for their dedication to maintaining the sanctity and accessibility of such an important religious site.

Vikramaditya Singh expressed his gratitude to all those involved in the restoration project, emphasizing the importance of preserving such historical and religious sites for future generations. He also mentioned that the temple complex was renovated besides a new toilet block was constructed for the convenience of visiting devotees, ensuring a more comfortable and enriching experience for all who come to seek blessings.
