DGP’s fake WhatsApp profile created; Police takes action

Srinagar, Nov 24: Police on Friday said that a delinquent and fraudster had created a fake WhatsApp profile using the number 998914128090 having the photo of the Director General of Police (DGP) Rashmi Ranjan Swain as display picture (DP).

A statement of J&K Police issued here said that action as warranted under the law had been initiated.

“It is informed that since it is a fake profile created with malicious intentions, no one should reply or respond to this number. Any transaction with this account resulting in a loss or otherwise should be reported to the nearest Police Station or Cyber Police Station Srinagar and Jammu,” the statement said.

It said that the Cyber Police Station Jammu could be contacted on 0191-2436709 while Cyber Police Station Srinagar could be contacted on 9596770555.
