DGP visits Hiranagar to take stock of situation
Jammu, Mar 26: Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat Wednesday visited the site, where an intensive search operation was going on in and around Sanyal village of Hiranagar in Kathua district, to take stock of the situation there.
Accompanied by senior officers, the DGP took a round of the area and assessed the status of the multi-tier combing operation to hunt down terrorists, who were sighted there on Sunday.
DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua, Shiv Kumar Sharma too remained stationed there at the spot.
Searches, which entered the fourth day on Wednesday, were further intensified after a local woman on Tuesday stated that two men in army uniform approached her family in the Dinga Amb area for water and then returned to the forests.
The high point of the search operation was that well-equipped commandos were engaged in the operation.
To bolster the surveillance mechanism, the security forces also used copters, drones and sniffer dogs.
However, success continues to elude them.
No contact has been established since March 23.
The search operation was launched after the security forces and terrorists exchanged heavy gunfire briefly in Sanyal village on Sunday evening.
On Monday, the security forces engaged in the operation recovered a few belongings and ammunition, presumably left behind by the fleeing terrorists.
Notably, the terrorists, five in number, were first sighted by a couple from the village. The Special Operation Group is also engaged in the operation.
Besides, the Border Security Force (BSF) too has bolstered its deployment.
