The interaction is part of the police’s outreach initiative aimed at fostering stronger ties with the public. The Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) intends to build more trust and enhance cooperation with the people, which officials believe is crucial for achieving various security and community welfare objectives. “This initiative is a step towards making the police force more approachable and people-centric. The DGP wants to hear directly from the public about their concerns, suggestions, and expectations,” a senior police official told Greater Kashmir.

Nalin Prabhat, who has a reputation for proactive policing, is expected to address key issues raised by the attendees, including security, law enforcement, drug abuse, and traffic management. “Our outreach programs are designed to create an environment where people feel comfortable engaging with the police. We are here to serve, and we want to ensure that our approach is both effective and inclusive,” the DGP is expected to emphasize during the session.

The issue of drug abuse is likely to be a significant topic of discussion. Recently, during a function in Jammu, DGP has highlighted the need for collective efforts in tackling this menace. “The fight against drugs is not just a police matter—it requires community involvement. We urge parents, teachers, and civil society members to work with us in addressing this challenge,” he has said. Security-related concerns are also expected to be discussed, with J&K Police reaffirming the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order while ensuring that law-abiding citizens do not face any inconvenience. “Jammu and Kashmir Police is committed to peace and security. We will be firm against those who disrupt harmony while remaining accessible to the common people,” he is likely to reiterate.
