DGP Prabhat calls for intensified anti-terror ops, enhanced intelligence
Srinagar, Oct 26: Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat Saturday visited north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday and directed the Police to intensify anti-terror operations and enhance intelligence gathering.
Greater Kashmir learnt from reliable official sources that in a high-level meeting, he directed the force to strengthen its efforts and engage more closely with the local populace to ensure effective security measures.
The meeting, which took place at the district headquarters, was attended by a number of senior Police officials including Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Law and Order, Vijay Kumar; Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, North Kashmir, Maqsood-u-Zaman, and all district SSPs and additional Superintendents of Police (SPs) from the north Kashmir districts.
Official sources said that during the meeting, DGP Prabhat stressed the importance of robust intelligence gathering as a critical component in the fight against terrorism.
They said that he instructed the officers to enhance their network of informants and improve coordination with intelligence agencies to preemptively thwart any terror activities.
“Our primary focus should be on gathering actionable intelligence that can help us neutralise threats before they materialise,” the official sources quoted him as stating during the meeting.
They said that the J&K Police chief urged the Police officers to establish stronger connections with the local population.
“He directed us to deal sternly with propitiators and no innocent should be harassed,” the officials said.
“Building a rapport with the locals not only aids in intelligence gathering but also fosters a sense of security among the residents,” they quoted the DGP as saying during the meeting. DGP Prabhat outlined a comprehensive winter strategy to intensify anti-terror operations in north Kashmir.
He directed the officers to conduct regular and rigorous anti-terror operations, especially in areas identified as potential hotspots for terrorist activities.
“We must leave no stone unturned in our efforts to root out terrorism. Our operations should be swift, precise, and relentless,” the DGP said.
He also emphasised the need for strategic deployment of forces and advanced training programmes.
The DGP called for the deployment of additional personnel in sensitive areas and directed the SPs to ensure their teams were well-trained in counter-terrorism tactics and equipped with modern technology.
“A coordinated approach is essential to ensure the success of our operations and the safety of our personnel,” he said. The DGP commended the force for their dedication and urged them to remain vigilant and proactive in their duties.
He assured them of full support from the higher authorities and reiterated the commitment of the Police force to safeguarding the peace and security of the entire J&K.
