Baramulla, Dec 7: Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat Saturday called for friendly policing and focus on security and crime reduction, a top Police official said.

Visiting Baramulla district to hold a review meeting with the Police officers of the North Kashmir Range (NKR), the DGP, who was accompanied by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Range, Vidhi Kumar Birdi and the meeting was attended by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) NKR, Maqsood-ul-Zaman besides all district Police chiefs of north Kashmir Police districts, during the meeting focused majorly on the overall security scenario of north Kashmir besides the operation preparedness of the J&K Police.

“It was an internal meeting with the officers and the DGP took a detailed review of the security scenario in north Kashmir. All the security-related issues were discussed with the district SSPs,” said an official, wishing not to be named.

The official said that the meeting discussed the operation preparedness of the J&K Police while the DGP sought feedback on the overall security scenario in north Kashmir.

“General instructions were given to the officers with regard to policing and other issues,” the official said.

According to officials, during the meeting, the DGP stressed the capacity building of the Police and reduction in crime-related issues to make the people feel at ease.

“The capacity building pertains to the welfare of the Police personnel besides enhancement in their training. The meeting also discussed record building and infrastructure as well. The DGP also stressed the reduction of crime-related cases and incidents and asked the officers to be friendly toward the people and make them feel safe and at ease,” the official said.

He said that the DGP discussed the NDPS-related cases and issued instructions to go strictly against narcotics.

“In the meeting, it was discussed that friendly policing should be given a priority and people should get easy access to get their issues and grievances resolved,” the official said.

He said that the officers were instructed to focus on the security of the minority community as well.

“In the meeting, the district Police chiefs were asked to ensure proper safety and security of the minority community,” he said.
