Srinagar, Jan 28: J&K Director General of Police (DGP), Nalin Prabhat, accompanied by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu, Anand Jain, conducted a comprehensive review of the operational preparedness in Reasi and Ramban districts.

The review focused on assessing the security situation in these sensitive areas, strengthening coordination among various security forces, and ensuring readiness to tackle any emerging challenges.

During their visit, the top police officials prioritised security readiness across key sectors, with particular attention given to Force Operational Bases (FOBs), which serve as strategic hubs for forces deployment. They discussed measures to further strengthen these bases to ensure quick and efficient responses to any security threats or incidents that may arise in the future.

The officials also stressed the importance of inter-agency coordination, highlighting the need for seamless cooperation between the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in tackling security concerns. Given the region’s challenging terrain and frequent security threats, the DGP and ADGP stressed the necessity of joint operations and constant communication between forces maintain a strong security apparatus.

DGP Prabhat and ADGP Jain conducted visits to several FOBs in the area to gain first-hand insights into the logistical and operational capabilities of the forces on the ground. The visits were intended to evaluate the existing infrastructure and assess any areas that require improvement, particularly in terms of mobility, equipment, and personnel deployment.

The top brass also held discussions with senior officers from the local police and paramilitary forces to review security protocols, discuss intelligence sharing, and fine-tune strategies for counter-insurgency operations in the region. The officials were briefed on the ongoing security challenges, including cross-border infiltration, terrorist activities, and the overall law and order situation in both districts.

Reasi and Ramban, located in the mountainous terrains of Jammu division, have long been sensitive areas in terms of security, and the review aimed at ensuring that all necessary measures are in place to address both conventional and unconventional threats. In recent months, there have been heightened concerns about the presence of militants and potential spill-over from nearby conflict zones, making operational readiness a priority.

The DGP also underlined the importance of maintaining community outreach to strengthen trust between the local populace and the security forces, which can be crucial in gathering intelligence and maintaining peace in volatile areas. He called for more engagement with local communities to address grievances and enhance cooperation in safeguarding the region.
