Srinagar, Feb 27: The Director General of Police, Jammu & Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, chaired a comprehensive joint security review meeting to assess the prevailing security scenario, operational preparedness, and strategic response mechanisms in Police District Handwara and District Kupwara.

The high-level meeting was attended by senior officers, including Special DGP (Coordination) S.J.M. Geelani, IGP KashmirV.K. Birdi, and DIG North Kashmir Range Maqsood-ul-Zaman. SSP Handwara Sahil Sarangal and SSP Kupwara Al-Tahir Geelani (JKPS) were also present, along with Additional SPs of both districts, SDPOs, DySP Operations, SHOs, and DOs.

During the meeting, SSP Handwara and SSP Kupwara briefed the DGP on the current security environment in their respective jurisdictions.

The presentations covered counter-terrorism operations, anti-narcotics drives, measures to curb terror financing, action against networks of adverse elements, and area domination plans. A detailed review of the operational grid, surveillance mechanisms, border sensitivities, and preparedness to respond effectively to emerging threats was also undertaken.

The DGP conducted a thorough review of existing operational strategies and emphasised the need for proactive, intelligence-driven, and technology-enabled initiatives to neutralise terrorist threats and dismantle their support ecosystem. Reiterating a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, he directed officers to initiate focused and sustained action against individuals and networks aiding, abetting, or facilitating terror activities in any form.

Nalin Prabhat further called for decisive and uncompromising kinetic operations against Pakistani terrorists and instructed that operational momentum be maintained without dilution. He stressed the importance of strengthening Human Intelligence (HUMINT) networks, enhancing technical surveillance capabilities, and ensuring seamless coordination among the Police, Army, the CAPFs, and other sister agencies. Highlighting the importance of synergy and real-time information sharing, the DGP underscored that swift execution and coordinated efforts are essential to pre-empt terrorist designs and maintain a dominant security posture.

Officers present at the meeting also shared field-level feedback, operational challenges, and suggestions aimed at reinforcing the overall security architecture in North Kashmir.

The DGP appreciated the efforts of Handwara and Kupwara Police and urged officers to remain vigilant, proactive, and steadfast in their commitment to ensuring peace, stability, and security across the region.
