Srinagar, July 24: The Income Tax Office of the Investigation Wing in Srinagar marked the 165th Income Tax Day with a special visit from Monica Bhatia, IRS 1990, the Director General of Income Tax for the North West Region.

The celebration, held at the Srinagar office, brought together officers from the Income Tax Department to commemorate this significant milestone.

Bhatia, whose jurisdiction covers Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh, delivered a powerful message to the assembled officers, emphasizing the core values of honesty, commitment, integrity, and efficiency. Her address underscored the importance of these principles in carrying out their duties as public servants.

During the event, the Director General specifically directed the officers to prioritize taxpayer service and facilitation. She stressed the need for a focused approach to expanding the tax base in Jammu and Kashmir, highlighting the region's potential for economic growth and increased tax compliance.

Also present at the celebration was Surinder Kumar, IRS 1991, the Principal Commissioner of Income Tax.
