Jammu, Jun 16: Director General of Youth Services and Sports, Anuradha Gupta, on Monday flagged off the Jammu & Kashmir contingent for the 78th Senior National Aquatic Championship, urging athletes to serve as ambassadors of peace, prosperity, and sportsmanship.

As per a statement, the ten-member team, comprising five male and five female swimmers, will represent the Union Territory at the national event in Bhubaneswar from June 22 to 26.

This sentiment was echoed by Anuradha Gupta, Director General of Youth Services and Sports, Jammu & Kashmir, while flagging off the J&K contingent for the 78th Senior National Aquatic Championship. The ceremony, held at the MA Stadium, was a vibrant and well-attended affair.

A contingent of ten swimmers—five men and five women—selected on merit, will represent Jammu & Kashmir at the championship, organised by the Swimming Federation of India in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from June 22 to 26, 2025.

Commending the J&K Swimming Association for its relentless efforts in nurturing talent and promoting sports across the Union Territory, Gupta emphasised the UT’s vast potential in athletics. She stressed the importance of grassroots development to harness this talent effectively.

Extending her best wishes to the swimmers, she urged them to compete with integrity and uphold the spirit of sportsmanship. Encouraging them to excel at the national stage, she expressed hope that their performances would bring pride to their families, coaches, and Jammu & Kashmir.

The flag-off ceremony, organised by the Jammu & Kashmir Swimming Association, was conducted under the leadership of President Ramandeep Singh Soodan, General Secretary Bharat Kumar Sharma, Joint Secretary and Coach Babita Rani, and Treasurer Vikas Mahajan.
