DG CRPF G P Singh reviews security preparedness in Srinagar
Srinagar, May 27: Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), G P Singh, arrived in Srinagar for a crucial three-day visit to Kashmir aimed at reviewing the operational preparedness and security scenario in the region.
His visit comes at a pivotal time, with preparations underway for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025.
Shortly after landing in Srinagar, DG Singh proceeded to the 181 Battalion CRPF at Charar-e-Sharif, where he conducted a detailed inspection of the unit.
Accompanied by senior officers including Vitul Kumar, SDG (Operations Directorate), Rajesh Kumar, ADG (J&K Zone), Vineet Brij Lal, IG, Pawan Kumar Sharma, IG, and Mitesh Jain, IG, the DG engaged in in-depth discussions with ground commanders on the prevailing security environment and the Forceís operational readiness.
During his visit, DG Singh reviewed deployment strategies and assessed the forceís capabilities to respond to emerging threats, particularly in the context of ensuring a safe and peaceful pilgrimage for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.
Senior officers briefed him on troop readiness, logistical arrangements, and intelligence coordination in high-sensitivity areas.
Later, the DG interacted with CRPF personnel during a Sainik Sammelan, a morale-boosting address where he listened to grievances and suggestions from the soldiers.
In his speech, he commended their unwavering commitment and dedication, calling their service a ìpillar of national security and unity.î
He expressed full confidence in their ability to carry out all responsibilities with ìzeal and valour.î
Returning to Srinagar in the evening, DG Singh chaired a high-level conference with Range DIGs and Commanding Officers from 47 battalions currently deployed across the Kashmir Valley. The marathon meeting, which lasted over three hours, focused on coordination among various units, intelligence-sharing mechanisms, operational logistics, and contingency planning for the yatra period.
Officials familiar with the visit said the DG emphasized proactive patrolling, inter-agency cooperation, and enhanced vigilance in areas identified as vulnerable. He also reiterated the importance of maintaining strong community relations while staying alert to any subversive activity.
DG Singhís visit underlines the CRPFís commitment to maintaining peace and security in Jammu and Kashmir and reflects the central governmentís priority in ensuring a secure environment for the Amarnath Yatra 2025, which draws thousands of pilgrims every year.
The visit will continue over the next two days, with the DG expected to tour more operational locations and interact further with field commanders and personnel.
