DG BSF to flag off maiden Jammu Marathon, bike rally on Nov 9: IG Anand
Jammu, Nov 7: Director General Border Security Force (BSF) Daljit Singh Chaudhary will flag off the maiden Jammu BSF marathon 2025 besides BSF motorcycle rally from Jammu to Bhuj on November 9.
This was revealed by the Inspector General (IG), BSF, Jammu frontier Shashank Anand in a curtain raiser press conference at Satish Auditorium, Paloura camp on Friday, November 7, 2025.
IG Anand stated that six foreigners were among 6000 people who registered for participation in the marathon, which would be an annual event.
Renowned Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty and Rakesh Kumar, para-archer and Arjun awardee, will grace the occasion as guests of honour in the event.
“Besides flagging off, Jammu BSF marathon 2025, the Director General will also flag off the BSF Motorcycle Rally from Jammu to Bhuj (Gujarat), being held to commemorate the 60th Raising Day of the Border Security Force. 60 BSF personnel will be part of the motorcycle rally which will culminate at Bhuj on November 19 after covering Punjab and Rajasthan border areas. They will participate in the BSF Raising Day celebrations there on November 21,” IG Anand said.
The rally aims to spread the message of national integration and awareness against drug abuse, reflecting BSF’s commitment to unity, discipline, and nation-building. The official logo of the Rally was also unveiled during the occasion.
With regard to the Jammu BSF marathon, IG Anand stated that over 1600 youth from border areas also registered for participation.
The marathon will feature four race categories – 42 Km, 21 Km, 10 Km and 5 Km – commencing and concluding at the BSF Campus, Paloura, Jammu.
The IG BSF stated, “The Jammu BSF marathon is more than just a sporting event – it is a celebration of fitness, unity, and national spirit.”
“The event aims to promote physical fitness and mental toughness, strengthen the bond between border communities and the mainland, and advance the Government of India’s Fit India and Khelo India initiatives, particularly in the bordering areas of Jammu. It also seeks to encourage youth participation in sports and inspire a healthy, disciplined lifestyle,” he said.
“Winners will be awarded cash prizes i.e., for 42 Km- Rs 1,50,000; for 21 km - Rs 75,000 and for 10 km - Rs 50,000,” he said.
During the briefing, IG Anand joined by other senior officers gave a detailed account of marathon route, timing and other arrangements.
