Jammu, Jan 7: MLA Nagrota Devyani Rana on Wednesday chaired an extensive review meeting of the School Education Department to assess the status of education infrastructure and academic performance in government schools across the Nagrota assembly constituency, with special emphasis on schools damaged due to recent floods.

A statement of Devyani issued here said that the meeting was attended by the Chief Education Officer (CEO), Jammu, the Deputy Chief Education Officer (Dy CEO), Jammu, and Principals and Heads of various government schools functioning within the constituency.

It said that the interaction focused on assessing academic performance, availability of teaching staff, infrastructure facilities, enrollment trends, and the effective implementation of various education-related government schemes.

During the detailed review, Devyani sought a comprehensive briefing on the status of schools, including classroom availability, sanitation facilities, drinking water, electricity, and digital learning resources.

She also reviewed issues related to staff shortages, rationalisation of teachers, and subject-wise availability of faculty in higher secondary schools.

Devyani stressed the need for addressing these challenges as a priority to ensure uninterrupted academic activities.

She emphasised that quality education and student welfare are among her priorities.

Devyani called upon education officers and school principals to work with dedication and accountability to enhance learning outcomes.

Highlighting the importance of discipline and regular attendance, she urged the department to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and take proactive steps to reduce dropout rates, particularly at the secondary level.

Devyani also underscored the need to promote co-curricular activities, sports, and skill development initiatives to ensure the holistic development of students.

She encouraged Principals to actively engage with parents, local communities, and School Management Committees to create a supportive educational ecosystem.

The CEO and Dy CEO Jammu assured Devyani that all concerns raised during the meeting would be examined in detail and addressed in a phased and time-bound manner.

Reiterating her commitment, she assured full cooperation and support to the School Education Department for strengthening infrastructure, improving academic standards, and ensuring that students of Nagrota constituency receive quality education and better opportunities for the future.
