Ganderbal, Apr 9:  Dozens of devotees thronged the Kheer Bhawani temple here in the Tulmulla area of Ganderbal district on the Navratra, which was celebrated with religious fervour.

The devotees, mostly Kashmiri Pandits, celebrated their first Navratra at Kheer Bhawani temple also known as Mata Ragneya Devi temple.

Kashmiri Pandits visit the temple to pay their respects and participate in the Kheer Bhawani Mela, which is one of the Kashmiri Pandits' biggest religious annual events dedicated to Ragnya Devi.

Many tourists who were on a visit to Kashmir also joined the devotees who had come from different areas to pay obeisance at the temple on the first day of Navratra on Tuesday. The district administration had made special arrangements for the occasion.

Special care was taken to clean the premises of the temple while security arrangements were made to ensure the devotees did not face any kind of difficulty.

The devotees said that they were happy to pay obeisance at the temple and prayed for peace and prosperity for the people of the country in general and Jammu and Kashmir in particular.
