Kupwara, Mar 12: Devaspora village in Magam area is without electricity for the past several days as the electric transformer has got damaged resulting in the overall area plunging into darkness.
The residents said that for the last several days they were suffering due to lack of electricity.
The residents said that they need to travel to nearby villages to charge their mobile phones and other electric appliances. They demanded repair and up-gradation of the transformer at the earliest, so that their sufferings may end.
The residents said that the transformer got damaged twice in a week resulting in the overall area plunging into darkness.
"Last week a transformer was sent to us but that developed a technical snag soon after installation. After four days the same transformer was transported to PDD workshop at Handwara but that is yet to be repaired even after the passage of several days. We were promised that a new transformer would be provided to us ahead of Ramadhan but nothing like that happened," Bashir Ahmad, a local told Greater Kashmir.
The residents have urged authorities to review the consumer distribution among transformers in their locality to ensure a fair and equitable distribution of the load, preventing transformers in the village from being unduly overburdened.
They have appealed to concerned authorities to issue them an electric transformer at the earliest so that their hardships may end.
