Detained hardcore criminal under PSA: Jammu police

Jammu, Mar 22: A notorious hardcore criminal has been detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Jammu District by RS Pura Police on Friday.

He has been identified as Ankush Kumar @ Anku son of Baru Ram resident of Khana Chak, RS Pura District Jammu. He has been booked under Public Safety Act for his criminal activities in an organised manner, posing a threat to peace and order, said police.  The accused did not change his behaviour, criminal activities, inspite of been booked under several FIRs and arrested by police in number of cases. But he continued his criminal activities and such activities are likely to disturb public order particularly in RS Pura area of Jammu District, police further said.

“Keeping in view the activities of aforesaid accused as these amount to propagating the criminal activities, thus accused was ordered to be detained under section-8 of Public Safety Act (PSA) vide District Magistrate Jammu’s order No 14/2024 dated 19-03-2024 and has been lodged in Jail,” police said.

Action against notorious hardcore criminals is among the top priorities of Jammu Police, which aims not only to take stringent action as per law of the land against notorious criminals, but it is also a preventive step towards maintenance of peace and order.
