Despite rains Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remains open
Ramban, Mar 13: Despite rain and thunderstorms, the Srinagar- Jammu National Highway remained open for two-way traffic of light medium passenger vehicles today.
Heavy vehicles were cleared in a regulated manner between Nashri and Banihal sectors. Traffic authorities said during the last 24 hours up to 5 pm Wednesday Srinagar Jammu National Highway remained blocked for four hours due to road repair works at Dalwass.
They further said traffic movement remained slow due to the breakdown of four heavy vehicles, single-lane road stretches, and unpaved road stretches at Dalwass, Panthyal, Nachlana, Nachlana, Shalgari, Mehad –Cafeteria and various other places between Nashri and Banihal sectors of the highway.
They advised passenger vehicle operators to prefer their journey on the National Highway during the day only due to apprehension of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.
Load carrier operators both heavy and medium vehicle operators ferrying perishables / live stocks, were advised to load their vehicles as per traffic advisory issued by the traffic department from time to time due to single lane road stretch at Dalwass.
Meanwhile, the traffic department issued a fresh advisory for Thursday stating that subject to fair weather and good road conditions light, medium passenger vehicles would be allowed to ply on both sides of Jammu Srinagar National Highway.
They said Heavy Vehicles would be allowed to ply from Jakhani, Udhampur towards Kashmir on Thursday.
Traffic officials monitoring the regulation of traffic at Dalwass said that despite rain Jammu Srinagar National Highway is open however due to the single-lane road stretch at Dalwass traffic movement is slow.
