Deputy CM reviews progress on development works in Nowshera
Nowshera, Dec 24: Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Chowdhary, today chaired a review meeting of the woks department, encompassing Public Works Department (PWD), Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and Roads and Buildings (R&B) department at Dak Bungalow, Nowshera.
The meeting aimed to evaluate the progress on ongoing developmental works and review the status of projects yet to be initiated in the region.
The Deputy Chief Minister took a detailed account of the works in progress, stressing the need for maintaining high-quality standards in all phases of project execution. Highlighting the significance of infrastructure development, he directed the officials to ensure strict adherence to deadlines besides addressing any bottlenecks hindering the timely completion of projects.
Discussions revolved around key projects under PWD, PMGSY and R&B, with a focus on road connectivity, maintenance of existing infrastructure and execution of new projects.
The Deputy Chief Minister expressed concern over delays in certain works and emphasised the importance of meticulous planning and execution. He instructed the officials to prepare a prioritized list of pending projects and ensure their early initiation. “Quality should not be compromised at any cost, as these projects are pivotal for overall development of the region and well-being of the people,” he remarked.
During the meeting, the officials provided updates regarding the progress on various projects and highlighted challenges, including funding constraints, land acquisition issues and technical difficulties.
The Deputy Chief Minister assured them of the government’s full support in addressing these challenges and facilitating smooth implementation of development projects.
In his closing remarks, the Deputy Chief Minister called for regular monitoring and evaluation of all ongoing works to ensure transparency and accountability. He also urged the officials to engage local communities and stakeholders in the developmental process to create a sense of ownership and responsibility among the residents.
Chief Engineer Anil Kumar Pandoi, along with Executive Engineers and other senior officials from the Works Department, attended the meeting.
