Deptt of Soil & Water Conservation organises cleanliness drive at Ompura

Srinagar, Sep 18: Under the banner of Seva Pravas, the Department of Soil and Water Conservation organised a Cleanliness Drive and Waste Segregation Awareness Program at Spring Buds School, Ompura Budgam.

The event was led by Riyaz Malik, District Officer, along with Ahsab-ul-Haq, Zonal Officer, and Abdul Raheem Dar, Nodal Officer of the department.

The program focused on spreading awareness among students and staff about the importance of maintaining cleanliness in their surroundings and adopting proper waste segregation practices for a healthier environment. During the drive, students actively participated in cleaning activities within the school campus. They were educated on the significance of separating biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste at the source, thereby contributing towards sustainable waste management, said a press release.

Speaking on the occasion, District Officer Riyaz Malik emphasised that cleanliness and responsible waste management are vital for environmental conservation. He appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students and staff of Spring Buds School, encouraging them to carry forward the message of cleanliness and eco-friendly practices to their communities.
