Department of Neurology, SSH to organise Walkhathon
Srinagar, Oct 28: The Department of Neurology, Government Super Specialty Hospital, Srinagar, under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Bashir Ahmad Sanaie, Head of Department, is organising a community awareness event "Walk for Brain Health" on occasion of World Stroke Day on Wednesday, October 29.
The event is scheduled at 7:30 AM at Riverfront, Rajbagh, Srinagar, for raising awareness about stroke prevention, the importance of early recognition and post stroke rehabilitation.
Stroke remains one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. This awareness walk aims to educate the public about recognizing stroke symptoms, understanding risk factors, and the critical importance of seeking immediate medical attention. The initiative also emphasizes lifestyle modifications that can significantly reduce stroke risk.
Prof. (Dr.) Bashir Ahmad Sanaie, Head of Department of Neurology, emphasized, "Stroke is a medical emergency that requires immediate attention. Through this community initiative, we aim to empower our citizens with knowledge about stroke prevention and early warning signs."
Dr. Tanveer Hassan Baba, Consultant Neurologist and Organising Secretary of the event, added, "Time is brain when it comes to stroke. Every minute counts, and public awareness can save lives. A well-informed community can significantly reduce the burden of stroke-related disabilities and save precious lives ."
