DEO inspects counting centre in Rajouri
Rajouri, Aug 23: District Election Officer (DEO), Abhishek Sharma, today conducted an extensive inspection of the Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Rajouri, designated as the counting centre for the upcoming assembly polls.
An official spokesman in a statement issued here said that the inspection covered key facilities, including five counting halls, five strong rooms for polled EVMs, accommodations for counting observers, and the guest room.
During the visit, the DEO Rajouri was accompanied by Returning Officer (RO) Rajouri, Jahangir Khan; Deputy District Election Officer (Dy DEO), Shakeel Malik; Chief Planning Officer (CPO), Maqsood Ahmed; Executive Engineer (Ex En) PWD, Sardar Khan; Executive Officer (EO) Municipality; District Information Officer (DIO); and other officers.
Sharma issued strict instructions to the Executive Engineer of PWD to ensure that the counting centre and strong rooms are made fully functional in compliance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
He emphasised the importance of levelling the ground to ensure smooth operations during the counting process.
The DEO also directed that all essential facilities, including electricity and water supply, be provided without any disruption.
Furthermore, the executive officer of the municipality was tasked with maintaining cleanliness throughout the premises and installing solar lights to enhance security and functionality.
The DEO reiterated the importance of adhering to the highest standards of preparedness to ensure a smooth and efficient counting process.
