Kot Bhalwal block, which is on Jammu's outskirts, has emerged as an area of concern by registering maximum hotspots like Muthi Gaon, Roopnagar, Vinayak Nagar, and Durganagar. Part of this block is in Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) jurisdiction. These hotspots fall within the municipal limits of the block.

“The possible reasons could be stagnation of water due to an increase in the number of under process constructions or projects, development of new slum areas as a temporary shelter for outside labourers and others. The positive aspect is that so far, no death has been recorded in the region on account of Dengue,” Dr D J Raina, State Malariologist, J&K, while sharing possible reasons with Greater Kashmir, for this upsurge in this particular stretch, stated.
