Demise of Dr Qazi Masood condoled
Srinagar, July 28: The Jammu and Kashmir branch of Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists, and Leprologists (IADVL J&K) held a condolence meeting to honour the memory of Prof (Dr) Qazi Masood Ahmad.
The online gathering took place via Zoom, allowing members from across the region and beyond to participate and pay their tribute. Prof Qazi Masood, a distinguished figure in the field of dermatology, was remembered for his significant contributions to medical science and his dedication to patient care. His death is a profound loss to the dermatology community and the medical fraternity at large.
The meeting began with a moment of silence, reflecting the collective grief and respect for Prof Masood.
Dr Yasmeen Jabeen, President of J&K IADVL and HOD Deptt of Dermatology GMC Srinagar, opened the session with a tribute to Prof Masood's exemplary career and his impact on dermatology practice and education. Several dignitaries and former students shared their personal experiences and memories of Prof Masood, underscoring his generosity, wisdom, and unwavering support.
Prof G H Hajini, the senior most dermatologist of J&K and ex-HOD Deptt of Dermatology, GMC Srinagar, remembered Prof Qazi Masood as a towering figure in dermatology. He said his contributions to the field were monumental, and his dedication to his patients and students was unparalleled.
Prof Jitendra Arora, Ex HOD Dermatology GMC Jammu said that during this challenging time, their thoughts and prayers are with Dr Masood 's family. He extended his deepest sympathies and support stating that Dr Masood's "memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him."
Dr. H S Soodan with a heavy heart paid tribute to Prof Qazi Masood. “His exceptional skill as a clinician and his pioneering research set new standards in dermatology. More than that, he was a compassionate human being who always put his patients first.”
Dr Dilshad Khan, another senior dermatologist of the Valley, recalled his profound influence on the career of his students.
Prof (Dr) Iffat Hassan Shah, Principal/Dean GMC Srinagar and Ex-HOD, Deptt of Dermatology said that his contributions to dermatology were vast, and his commitment to education and patient care was unwavering. “Prof. Masood was a mentor to many of us, and his teachings will continue to influence our work.”
Dr Imran Majid, a close associate and former student of Prof Masood, expressed his heartfelt condolences. He remembered Dr Masood as more than just a teacher and said he was a guiding light whose wisdom, kindness, and dedication touched the lives of many.
Prof Syed Mubashir, past president of J&K IADVL, remembered Prof Masood as a dynamic personality on professional and personal front.
Dr Shazia Shah, Dr Shazia Jeelani, Dr Peerzada Sajad, Dr Puneet Soodan, Dr Atiya Yaseen and others also remembered Prof Qazi Masood as a visionary and extended their deepest sympathies to the bereaved family and friends during this challenging time. The meeting was attended by other office bearers, consultants, medical officers, senior residents, post graduates in the field of dermatology. The meeting closed with prayers for the departed soul.
J&K IADVL extended its deepest condolences to Prof Qazi Masood's family including Prof (Dr) Shahida Mir, his children, friends, and colleagues.
