Delphic Council organises painting contest for students

Jammu, Dec 7: The Delphic Council of Jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with the Directorate of School Education Jammu, Surya Tapi Kids Care School, Bajalta and Berger Paints India Limited Samba organised a painting competition on Sunday.

8 government and 14 private schools of Jammu participated in the painting contest. Besides, a debate competition on the topic “Say no to drugs, yes to life” at Surya Tapi Kids Care School, Bajalta, Jammu was also organised.

Ashok Singh, president of the Delphic Council of J&K while delivering the key note on the event, welcomed all the participants and elaborated that after successful completion of the 3-day Inter-State Cultural festival at Srinagar in the month of October, 2025 and Swaranjali at JDA Park Muthi, Jammu, the Delphic Council was organising the events in the rural areas of the Jammu province.

It was informed that the painting competition of 125 students with crayon and poster colours was held in two groups, 1st to 6th and from 7th to 12th standard in which the mementos to 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions were distributed amongst the students.

The debate contest was also held in two groups in Hindi and English as well from 1st to 6th and 7th to 12th standard and mementos for 1st, 2nd ,3rd positions were given to the participating students.

Moreover, participation certificates were also distributed amongst all the participants of both the competitions.

Vanshika Jaral, acclaimed singer of J&K sung Dogri song, GHSS, Khanna Chhargal played a skit on “Say no to drugs- Yes to life”, Jagdeep Singh and Rajnish Sharma played the mouth organ whereas, Meenakshi Kesar also recited poetry on the topic for making the students and the audience aware of the drug menace.

A Rajasthani dance and Vante Mataram as it completed 150 years was performed by the students of Surya Tapi Kids School, Bajalta, Jammu which enthralled the audience at the venue.

Sham Lal Sharma, chief guest on the occasion, appreciated the Delphic Council for organising such informative events which will  provide information regarding the growing drug menace, and provided a creative opportunity to the students through the painting competition and also to remain in touch with the mother tongue.

He motivated the students to choose their lives over drugs, and also requested and asked Ashok Singh, president Delphic Council to organise more of such events to aware the rural masses.

Acclaimed artist Chander Shekhar Bunty, cartoonist Vinod Verma, Chetna Anand, Subhash Langeh and Shivani Khajuria were the judges for the painting competition and also showed their artistic skills to the students.

Ramesh Chander- secretary general, Naseem Akhter, Ritu Sharma, Surjeet Singh, Ajit Singh, Renu Saini, Rajinder Singh Sambyal, Shivender Kumar, Amit Bali, Rakesh Anand, Kulbhushan Singh, Bal Bhushan Sharma, Ritu Raina, Dr. Amrish Sarup Kohli were also present on the occasion.

Vote of thanks was presented by Sonia Bharti-Principal of the Surya Tapi Kids Care School, who thanked the Delphic Council of J&K for organising such a beautiful programme in her institution.
