Srinagar, Dec 18: In a significant breakthrough against the drug trafficking network, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Jammu & Kashmir, today apprehended Jatish Babbar, S/o Harish Babbar, resident of South Delhi, who is the owner of Sakshi Pharma.

As per the statement, the accused is a notorious drug trafficker and is already involved in three separate NDPS cases registered at Police Station ANTF, Jammu, vide (1) FIR No. 45/2020, (2) FIR No. 04/2021, and (3) FIR No. 06/2021. All the above cases are registered under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused was actively involved in the illegal procurement and supply of psychotropic substances, misusing his position as a pharmaceutical firm owner. His role appears to be crucial in the larger inter-state drug trafficking network, and further investigation is underway to unearth both forward and backward linkages.

The said accused was pin pointed through technical surveillance and a team of ANTF Jammu under the direct supervision of SSP ANTF Anwar-Ul-Haq, nabbed the accused from Delhi, the statement reads.

The arrest of the accused marks a major success in ANTF J&K’s sustained campaign against drug mafias operating under the garb of pharmaceutical businesses. More arrests and recoveries are likely as the investigation progresses.

ANTF J&K reiterates its commitment to zero tolerance against drug trafficking and appeals to the general public to cooperate and share any information related to drug abuse or trafficking, the statement further reads.
