Delhi-based HCMCT Manipal hospital opens speciality clinic in Srinagar
Srinagar, Nov 22: Delhi-based HCMCT Manipal Hospital on Saturday announced the launch of its new Manipal Clinic in Srinagar, introducing a range of super-speciality OPD services aimed at improving access to advanced healthcare in the Kashmir Valley.
The clinic will connect local patients with leading specialists from the hospital’s Delhi unit across oncology, spine care, cardiac sciences, neurology, and gastroenterology.
Renowned robotic cancer surgeon Dr Surender Kumar Dabas will periodically visit Srinagar to offer consultations and treatment for cancer patients. The initiative brings with it advanced capabilities such as robotic and minimally invasive surgeries, enabling early diagnosis, precision-based interventions, and improved access to top-tier medical care.
The launch comes at a time when cancer cases in Srinagar and the wider Valley continue to rise. Lung, head and neck, and oesophageal cancers remain the most common among men, while breast and colorectal cancers are increasingly reported among women. Experts attribute the trend to lifestyle factors such as tobacco use, dietary habits, and inadequate screening. Health professionals say delayed diagnosis often leads to advanced-stage cancers, making treatment more complex and outcomes poorer.
Speaking at the launch, Dr Surender Kumar Dabas, Chairman of the Manipal Comprehensive Cancer Centre (MCCC) and Onco Robotic Surgeries for the North-West Cluster, said the clinic aims to ensure timely access to high-quality cancer care within the region.
“With this Manipal Clinic, we want people in Srinagar to receive advanced cancer care without having to travel long distances. Minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgeries offer faster recovery, reduced pain, and better clinical outcomes. Our goal is to combine cutting-edge treatment options with a compassionate, patient-centred approach to empower individuals in their fight against cancer,” he said.
