Delegation of 10+2 lecturers calls on CM Omar
Srinagar, Oct 28: A delegation of the 10 2 lecturers association met Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at the civil secretariat in Srinagar on Monday.
A statement of the 10=2 lecturers issued here said that the delegation was led by their president Mansoor Ahmad Khan.
It said that the delegation extended a warm welcome and greetings to the CM for taking over the reign of J&K.
The statement said that the delegation gave a detailed appraisal of the issues related to stagnation at the 10 2 level, Assured Career Progression, OPS, fresh recruitment of teachers and lecturers, rationalisation of human resource, re-start of CM’s Super 50 initiative, and steps needed to bring quality improvements in the school education by updating infrastructural and technological facilities.
It said that the CM was informed that there was chronic stagnation at the 10 2 level with no provision of horizontal or vertical progression even after completing 20 to 25 years of service in the same grade.
“The file regarding the ACP perused for more than 14 years is lying with the sub-committee constituted to examine the stagnation and possible measures to address the issue according to Assured Career Progression in favour of 2 lecturers,” the statement said.
It said that the delegation urged CM to consider the genuine demand for restoration of OPS and beginning may be made by granting OPS in favour of those employees who had applied before 2010 but selection lists came after the implementation of NPS.
“The CM was requested to consider the appointment of General Line Teachers through JKSSRB and 2 Lecturers through JKPSC respectively to address the growing unemployment among highly qualified youth and to address the deficiency of teaching staff in schools,” the statement said.
It said that the delegation urged the CM to stop the practice of deputing people from higher education to sister organisations like JKBOSE and SCERT J&K.
“Experienced people from School Education should be deputed to manage apex level positions after proper screening and experience is taken into consideration and for these necessary amendments may be done in eligibility rules,” the statement said.
It said that the CM gave a patient hearing to the issues raised by the delegation and assured their time-bound redressal on merit and feasibility.
Those who accompanied the delegation include Vice President Tehseen Maqbool, Sajad Ahmad, Khursheed Ahmad Rather, Khursheedul Hassan, and Shabir Ahmad Shabir.
