Delay in assembly polls keeping concerns of people unresolved, says Azad

Srinagar, Aug 03: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) chairman, Gh Nabi Azad on Saturday chaired a meeting party cadre taking suggestions from leaders for the preparations of upcoming assembly elections, read an official handout from his party.

He said that people are eager for the elections as their concerns remain unresolved in the absence of an elected government, the handout said.

While underscoring the need for a unified and collaborative approach to ''effectively address the needs and aspirations of the people, Azad said that while the recently held parliamentary elections were focused on national issues, the assembly elections ''will present a different scenario.''

"Lok Sabha elections were based on a national narrative, where people fell victim to false propaganda and exploitation but received nothing in return. In the assembly elections, local issues must be the focus,'' read the handout.

Azad said that the lack of development has further increased the demand for timely elections and effective government, adding that his mission is to ''promote development and peace for the people of J&K.''

Targeting political parties that engage in communalism, Azad said that the politics based on religion and caste ultimately harms the public.

''Our focus should be on development, peace, and the return of our rights to Job and to land, including statehood," he said.

Appreciating his party leaders and workers for their effort during the Lok Sabha elections amid the challenges posed by new party and the new symbol, he urged them to continue their efforts while aiming for the victory in the expected assembly elections.
